How to Integrate HIV and Sexual and Reproductive Health Services in Namibia, the Epako Clinic Case Study

During the past two decades, HIV and Sexual and Reproductive Health services in Namibia have been provided in silos, with high fragmentation. As a consequence of this, quality and efficiency of services in Primary Health Care has been compromised. 

The authors conducted an operational research (observational pre-post study) in a public health facility in Namibia. A health facility assessment was conducted before and after the integration of health services. A person-centred integrated model was implemented to integrate all health services provided at the health facility in addition to HIV and Sexual and Reproductive Health services. Comprehensive services are provided by each health worker to the same patients over time (longitudinality), on a daily basis (accessibility) and with a good external referral system (coordination). Prevalence rates of time flows and productivity were done.

WEBINAR Integrated Care Matters Series 2- Preventing and Managing Frailty

The International Foundation for Integrated Care is delighted to introduce the 2nd series of webinars on people-centred integrated care in practice. This series will have a particular focus on active and healthy ageing and preventing and managing frailty. The webinars will be hosted by IFIC Scotland in collaboration with the University of the West of Scotland, the Institute of Research and Innovation in Social Services, and the Health and Social Care Alliance.  Each monthly webinar will feature health and care practitioners from Scotland in conversation with colleagues from across the World and with insights from people who currently use health and social care support. Building a People-Centred Integrated Care Model in Urban China: A Qualitative Study of the Health Reform in Luohu.

China has adopted a people-centred integrated care model to reform its severely hospital-centric and fragmented delivery system. As a template of this model in urban China, the Luohu Hospital Group has generated considerable public and academic interest to scale it up.The establishment of the Luohu Hospital Group transformed the originally fragmented delivery system into a tightly integrated service delivery networks.

IFIC Ireland in association with the International Foundation for Integrated Care (IFIC), the Health Service Executive (HSE Ireland), Health and Social Care Northern Ireland (HSC NI) and Sláintecare presents “People-centred Integrated Care: the right care, in the right place, at the right time” on Thursday, 23 March 2023 in O’Reilly Hall University College Dublin.

This conference will focus on how integrated care is the solution to many of Ireland’s health and care challenges, particularly the urgent care crisis and improved hospital admissions and discharge approaches.
